报告人简介:

Jie Chen received his PhD degrees in electrical andcomputer engineering from the University of Maryland, USA. He is currently aProfessor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering and an adjunct professorin the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Alberta.

He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of the CanadianAcademy of Engineering. He has co-authored two books, 180 journal andconference proceeding papers. He holds seven patents awarded, several of whichhave been either used in production or licensed by various companies. He hasi10-index of 64 according to the Google scholar. His current research focusesinclude: (i) artificial intelligent circuit design, and high-voltage circuitfor IoT applications, (ii)impedance/colorimetric-based microfluidic biosensorsfor disease diagnosis and environmental monitoring, (iii) artificialintelligence method for mental health disease diagnostics and ultrasoundtechnology for treatment.

Dr. Chen has entrepreneurial and industrialexperience. He has helped to establish two Bell-labs’ spin-off companies. Thefirst company focused on the development of the 4th generation wirelesscommunication systems was acquired by QUALCOMM in 2005. The second company producesdigital HD-radios sold in most retail stores worldwide, such as BestBuy andWalmart. The products are also installed in most brands of automobiles.

报告内容简介:

Internet-of-Things(IoT) biosensors are widely used. It covers wide applications fromenvironmental monitoring, food safety checking, disease diagnosis. In thistalk, a platform microfluidic micro/nano-fabrication design will be presentedfor the design of IoT biosensors. Detail examples will be given, includingagricultural spore monitoring, E. coli detection, and protein detection. Theintegrated circuit design will also be presented.
